Privacy Policy
GoRecorder is a screen recorder, video and photo editor, and live streaming app for Android. We built it so that your recordings stay yours. Your recordings, files and sign-in information never reach us. GoRecorder has no accounts of its own, no advertising and no tracking. The app only sends a small set of anonymous install statistics to our server and technical crash reports to Google Firebase Crashlytics. You can turn both off (section 6). This policy explains what the app accesses on your device, when anything leaves your device, and the choices you have.
1. Summary
- Your recordings, screenshots and edits are stored only on your device (Movies/GoRecorder, Pictures/GoRecorder, Music/GoRecorder).
- We, the developer, never receive, see or store your recordings, audio, camera video, files, settings or sign-in information.
- The app sends anonymous install statistics (a random install ID, phone model, Android and app version, language, install source and IP address) to our server to count installs and show update notices. If the app crashes, a technical crash report is sent to Google Firebase Crashlytics. You can turn both off in Settings.
- Data leaves your device only when you choose: when you go live (to the service you pick), when you share a file with another app, or when you use Wi-Fi transfer to your own computer.
- If you sign in with Google or Facebook to go live, the app talks directly to Google or Facebook. Nothing passes through us.
- No personal information is sold or shared with third parties for advertising or any other purpose.
2. What the app accesses and why
| Access | Why it is used | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Screen content (screen capture) | To record your screen, take screenshots and live stream when you start it. | Saved on your device; sent to a streaming service only when you go live. |
| Microphone | To record your voice, record voiceovers and include your voice in live streams — only when you turn audio on. | Saved on your device; sent to a streaming service only when you go live. |
| Internal (app) audio | On Android 10+, to record game and app sound when you choose "internal sound". | Same as above. |
| Camera | For the facecam bubble, only when you turn facecam on. | Part of your recording or stream only. |
| Display over other apps | For the floating ball, recording controls, drawing tools and facecam on top of other apps. | Nothing leaves your device. |
| Notifications | To show recording status and controls. | Nothing leaves your device. |
| Photos, videos and files | To show and edit recordings made by GoRecorder and files you pick through the system picker. On Android 13+ the app does not request access to your whole gallery. | Nothing leaves your device unless you share or stream it. |
| Accounts on this device (account picker) | When you choose "Sign in with Google", Android shows its own account picker so you can choose which Google account to use for YouTube. The app does not read your account list. | The chosen email is stored on your device only. |
| Internet | Only for live streaming, Google/Facebook sign-in for live streaming, and Wi-Fi transfer that you start. | See sections 3–5. |
3. When data leaves your device
Live streaming. When you start a live stream, your screen (or the video you choose) and the audio you enabled are sent directly from your device to the service you selected — YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, or a custom RTMP server you enter. That service processes your stream under its own terms and privacy policy. GoRecorder keeps no copy unless you turn on "also save a copy on this phone". If you use a stream key, it is stored only on your device, encrypted with the Android Keystore.
Wi-Fi transfer. The app runs a temporary server on your local network so your own computer can download the files you choose. Access requires a one-time code, nothing is uploaded to the internet, and the server stops when you close the Wi-Fi transfer screen.
Sharing. When you tap Share, the file is passed to the app you pick. That app's privacy policy then applies.
4. Google sign-in and YouTube (YouTube API Services)
GoRecorder uses YouTube API Services so you can go live on your YouTube channel without copying a stream key. This feature is optional; you can always use a stream key instead.
What we request: the Google OAuth scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube (manage your YouTube account), which is the permission YouTube requires to create live broadcasts.
What the app does with it — only when you ask:
- Reads your channel name to show which channel you are signed in to.
- Creates a live broadcast and a live stream on your channel with the title, description and privacy setting you enter, and binds them together.
- Ends that broadcast when you stop streaming.
What the app does not do: it does not read, change or delete your videos, comments, subscriptions, playlists or any other YouTube data, and it does not access other Google services.
Storage: access tokens are provided by Google Play services on your device each time they are needed and are not stored by GoRecorder. The app stores only the email address of the account you chose and your channel name, on your device, so it can show them and use the same account next time. Nothing is sent to us.
Limited Use: GoRecorder's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use this information for advertising, do not sell it, do not transfer it to anyone, and do not use it to train AI models.
YouTube terms: by using the YouTube features of GoRecorder you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Revoking access: tap "Switch account" on the live screen in GoRecorder (this revokes access and removes the stored email), or remove GoRecorder at myaccount.google.com/connections (Google Account → Security → Third-party connections). Uninstalling the app also deletes everything it stored.
5. Facebook Login and Facebook Live
GoRecorder uses Facebook Login and the Facebook Live Video API so you can go live on your Facebook profile or a Page you manage without copying a stream key. This feature is optional.
Permissions requested:
public_profile— your name and Facebook ID, to show which account is signed in.publish_video— to create and end live videos on your profile when you go live.pages_show_list,pages_read_engagement,pages_manage_posts— only if you choose "Add my Pages": to list the Pages you manage and create and end live videos on the Page you select.
What the app does with it — only when you ask: creates a live video with the title, description and audience you choose, sends your stream to it, and ends it when you stop. It does not read your posts, friends, messages or any other data, and it never posts anything except the live video you start.
Storage: the Facebook access token is stored on your device by the official Facebook SDK. Page tokens are kept in memory only while the live screen is open. The selected profile or Page ID is remembered on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
Facebook SDK: the SDK is included only for Facebook Login. We have turned off its automatic app event logging and advertising ID collection. The SDK may contact Facebook's servers to load login settings. Meta's handling of data is described in the Meta Privacy Policy.
Removing access: sign out on the live screen in GoRecorder, or remove GoRecorder in Facebook → Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites. See our data deletion instructions.
6. Install statistics, crash reports and update check
Each time the app starts, it contacts our server at gorecorder.sohelranatech.com to check for updates and to learn which optional features are available. Unless you turn it off, it also sends anonymous install statistics:
- a random install ID created by the app (not your phone number, email, IMEI, advertising ID or any hardware ID — it changes if you reinstall);
- phone brand and model, Android version, app version, language setting;
- where the app was installed from (for example Google Play) and whether the device is a test device or emulator;
- the IP address the request comes from, and the dates the app was first and last opened.
Why: to count real installs (and tell them apart from Google's automated test devices), to know which phones and Android versions to support, and to show update notices. We do not use this for advertising, do not sell or share it, and do not combine it with your Google or Facebook data — data from Google or Facebook is never sent to our server.
Crash reports (Google Firebase Crashlytics)
If the app crashes or a recording, export or live stream fails unexpectedly, the app sends a technical report to Google Firebase Crashlytics so we can find and fix the problem. A report contains the error details and the app code location where it happened, phone model, Android and app version, free memory and storage, whether the app was in the foreground, the time of the crash, and the random install ID above. It never contains your recordings, screenshots, file names, screen contents, audio or sign-in details. Google processes this data on our behalf as a service provider and keeps crash reports for 90 days. Only the Crashlytics part of Firebase is used — no Google Analytics, no advertising ID.
Your choice: turn off Settings → Others → Anonymous stats & crash reports. The app then sends neither install statistics nor crash reports (unsent reports are deleted) and only downloads the update information.
Retention: IP addresses are deleted after 90 days; install records not seen for 12 months are deleted. To have your record deleted sooner, email us the install ID shown under that setting.
Apart from this, we do not collect personal data, and we do not use advertising identifiers, analytics or tracking SDKs. Data that you send to YouTube, Facebook, Twitch or another service when you go live goes directly from your device to that service.
7. Storage, retention and deletion
- Recordings and edits are saved in your device's gallery folders. Deleted items go to the in-app recycle bin and are permanently removed after 30 days, or sooner if you empty it.
- Settings, drafts, encrypted stream keys and sign-in details (Google account email, YouTube channel name, Facebook token) are stored in the app's private storage. Signing out removes the sign-in details; clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app deletes everything.
- The only data on our side is the anonymous install record described in section 6. Instructions: Data deletion.
8. Children
GoRecorder is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Security
Recording, editing and streaming happen on your device. Our server is reached only over HTTPS. Stream keys are encrypted with the Android Keystore. Streams to YouTube and Facebook, and all requests to Google and Facebook, use encrypted connections (HTTPS/RTMPS). A custom RTMP server you enter may not be encrypted.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The effective date above shows the latest version; important changes are also noted in the app's release notes.
